Overview
AAEE Grants provide small, targeted funding to support member-led environmental education projects across Australia. Offered through the sEEd grants program, these grants help educators test ideas, build local partnerships and strengthen practice in real-world settings. The program focuses on projects that align with AAEE’s mission to celebrate, amplify and support environmental education in all its forms, while building skills, networks and shared learning across the sector

2026 sEEd grants
There are 3 grants of $1000 each offered.
Grant period: The applications open 1 September 2026 and submissions close on 30 September 2026 COB.
Successful grant applicants will be announced by 1 Nov 2026. The project must be completed by the 30 June 2027.
Who can apply:
Open to applications from AAEE members only – both individuals and organisations.
Individuals can be environmental educators working in formal and informal (community/local government etc) educational settings. Organisations can be an incorporated organisation, with or without Deductible Gift Recipient status, but should be based in Australia and a member of AAEE.

Assessment criteria
The merit of each application is assessed against the following criteria:
- clear outcomes that align with the AAEE Mission (30%)
- evidence of local community involvement in each phase of the project lifecycle at design, planning and
- implementation, including engagement with Aboriginal people where appropriate (30%)
- sound timeframe and demonstrated ability to manage the project (20%).
- a reasonable plan to evaluate and follow up on the project (20%)
Promotion and communications
All projects funded in full or in part by the AAEE sEEd grants program must correctly acknowledge the funding provided.
